All donations are considered confidential. Donor’s names and contact information are not shared with anyone, unless that donor specifically requests to be publically recognized. Our donor mailing list (for purposes of invitation to events, newsletters and other information pertinent to our food pantry) is never shared with anyone. The privacy of donors, prospective donors, website visitors, and members of the general public is important to Florence Food Share. To assure that all donors receive respect and trust, FFS adheres to the Donor Bill of Rights:

DONATE MONEY:
Each dollar you donate allows us to access and distribute approximately 35 pounds of food when we order that food from our supervising agency, Food for Lane County. Because we distribute close to 50,000 pounds of food every month, your cash donations are what sustain our ability to keep the pantry stocked with food to distribute to those in need. Also, there are costs associated with distributing the food, including lights, refrigeration, gardening expenses and staff time. All donations are tax deductible.

There are a number of ways you can help Food Share on an ongoing basis with your giving. You can continue a personal legacy by giving a portion of your estate to Food Share in the following ways:

FOOD CONTRIBUTION

You can make a difference today with a one-time or regular food contribution. Some of our most beloved supporters dedicate a shelf in their pantry or garage just for Florence Food Share and add a few non-perishables to it every time they shop (see list here), then they drop off a bag or box of goods around the end of the month when we typically need it most. We are open and eager to receive your kindhearted contribution Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.; Monday and Wednesday, 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.; and Saturdays, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. We can provide receipts with our tax ID number for your records.

ESTATE GIVING

By naming Florence Food Share as a beneficiary in your will or trust you can help ensure that we continue our mission of alleviating hunger in Western Lane County for decades to come. Please be sure to select us as the beneficiary on your Amazon Smile account too.

Please ask your financial planner or attorney how to sustain Florence Food Share after you are gone.
Ask them about…

  • Wills or Bequests
  • Trusts (Charitable Lead Trust or Charitable Remainder Trust)
  • Charitable Gift Annuities
  • Life Insurance Beneficiaries
  • Mutual Fund Beneficiaries
  • Donor Advised Funds

In addition, you can make tax-deductible contributions dedicated to Florence Food Share through an endowment fund with the Western Lane Community Foundation. These donations can be made to:

  • Western Lane Community Foundation,
P.O. Box 1589,
Florence, OR 97439.
Specify Florence Food Share as the recipient.
  • Please contact your financial adviser or financial institution for more information. All donations will be acknowledged with a receipt, if requested.
GREEN BAG PROGRAM

Have you seen our green bags around town? Right now, many local churches and clubs are participating in The Florence Food Project.
Every week or two, Florence Food Share receives these green bags from the churches, clubs, and individuals, filled with non-perishable food items for our pantry. We receive the bags full of food, and then give the group representative the empty bags to bring back to fill again the next month. If your church or group is not currently participating in this project, please bring this to the attention of your church or group leadership. In addition, this project is available to individuals. We have many, many green bags. If you’d like a green bag or two…or several for yourself, your church, your civic club, your hiking, book, bridge, or bunco group, or other group, please contact us today. You can even keep one in your car and add to it every time you shop. It’s a great way to become a community champion for Florence Food Share.

Volunteer
You will gain deep personal satisfaction as a volunteer who serves those who are food insecure in our community. Be that compassionate person who is generous with their time and help stock shelves, deliver or pick up food supplies, work in the garden, sort inventory, and help clients shop for healthy food options. We can email you descriptions of the various roles available as a volunteer and can schedule trainings to help you find your place helping our community at Florence Food Share. Contact us for more information by calling, dropping by in person, or emailing info@florencefoodshare.org
